SNORING SOLUTIONS IN MISSISSAUGA

Why Snoring Matters

Snoring is more than a nighttime nuisance, it’s often a sign of airway obstruction. While occasional snoring may seem harmless, chronic or loud snoring can point to underlying problems with how air moves through the nose, throat, and airway during sleep. Left untreated, it can affect quality of rest, put strain on relationships, and even be linked to more serious health concerns like obstructive sleep apnea.

Common Causes of Snoring

  •  Narrowed airway passages due to jaw shape, enlarged tonsils/adenoids, or excess tissue in the throat.
  • Mouth-breathing caused by allergies, nasal congestion, or restricted nasal airflow (septal deviation, etc).
  • Jaw position during sleep, which can cause the tongue to fall back and block airflow.
  • Lifestyle factors such as weight gain, alcohol consumption before bed, or poor sleep posture.

At North Star Dentistry, we look beyond the surface to identify the true cause of snoring, whether it’s structural, functional, or habit-related.

Custom Snoring Appliances

For many patients, a custom-designed oral appliance is one of the most effective solutions. These appliances gently reposition the lower jaw and tongue forward while you sleep, keeping the airway open and reducing or eliminating snoring.

Unlike over-the-counter devices, professionally fitted appliances are:

  • Comfortable and custom-molded to your bite
  • Adjustable to achieve the right jaw position
  • Clinically proven to improve snoring and mild-to-moderate sleep apnea
  • Non-invasive and portable—perfect for travel

When to Seek Treatment

You should consider an airway evaluation if:

  • Your snoring is loud, frequent, or disruptive
  • You experience morning headaches or daytime fatigue
  • You wake up choking, gasping, or short of breath
  • A bed partner notices pauses in your breathing
  • You’ve been told you have mild to moderate sleep apnea but want a non-CPAP option
